Chinese Buyers at Home With the American Dream

It’s widely known that Asia’s wealthy like to invest in property. But the rich in China are scooping up homes in the U.S. at a higher rate than any other group of non-U.S. investors, not only to get a nice return on their money, but to live there.

They are also spending a lot more on their homes than U.S. home buyers or their international peers: Chinese bought homes worth US$831,000 on average last year, far more than the average U.S. house price of US$256,000 or the average price of about US$500,000 paid by an international buyer, a late June study from the U.S.’s National Association of Realtors finds.
