HELPFUL HINTS: HOW TO SPOT THE MILLIONAIRES NEXT DOOR

It’s not hard to spot the multi-millionaires (or billionaires) in many cities. In Dubai just head to the marina where the 200-foot yachts are moored. This is purposeful.

The difference between the two is based on a self-selecting level of discretion. CEOs and sports stars buy houses in Jupiter Island, Florida, and in Southampton, Long Island, for a reason. Among residents in these places it’s both a requirement and an art form to keep wealth discrete. Privacy can always be imposed by a 10-foot gate or an island only accessible by boat. It’s more coveted (and reliable) when it’s culturally expected and socially maintained within the fabric of a community.
