Last week I was up in Sacramento lobbying legislators on a number of key housing issues.  Among them we were urging support of SB 1469, a bill that would remove local roadblocks to ADU’s.  Sinc the CA Legislature enacted a bill in 2016 requiring cities to allow homeowners to build accessory dwelling units, or ADU’s, the concept has shown strong promise.  Homeowner’s benefit because these flexible units can produce rental income and add value to the property.  Neighborhoods benefit as housing is added without much disruption.  And cities are benefitting as the demand for ADU’s has skyrocketed, resulting in much-needed new housing. So what is the future of ADU’s?
